HUMMER by Karl was established in 1999 to bring the extraordinary abilities of the HUMMER (now known as the H1) to Fairfield County. The business steadily grew over the next two years as AM General, the maker of HUMMER became part of General Motors. With word of a new model called the H2 arriving as a 2003 model it was clear that the current HUMMER space located in the Chevrolet Showroom would no longer be sufficient.
On August 1, 2002, the new HUMMER by Karl showroom opened its doors at 245 Elm Street. The building, which has been owned by Karl Chevrolet since 1963, was completely remodeled. A pebble composite floor, plasma television, and other state-of-the-art equipment grace the new showroom. HUMMER has shown that they are ready to tackle the challenges of the 21st century SUV market.
